The Divine Raphael at Galleria Borghese "Raphael, from Florence to Rome" will be a well announced record-breaking exhibition with 60 masterpieces and an insurance value around 1 billion euros. From 05/19 to 08/27 in Rome
It is an extraordinary debut for the start of this prestigious Roman museum's 10-year programme of exhibitions (which runs until 2015 and includes shows on Canova, Caravaggio, Titian and Bernini). The exhibition, curated by director Anna Coliva, will cover Raphael's painting from 1505 to 1508, the preparatory phase for the Rome period, when the artist reached the peak of his formal synthesis. Although it may seem strange, the Galleria Borghese show will be the first one devoted almost exclusively to the Renaissance painter, who in the Eternal City itself created a form of painting that remained unchanged for centuries.
