| Francesco II Sforza grants the town of Monza at the spanish Antonio de Leyva and his descendings (that belonged the famous Nun of Monza of manzoniana memory). The "sieglo of gold" of the spanish was translated for Monza in a grave pestilence that decimated the people. The river Lambro was used for the first industrial installations: the shovels of the mills operate from the water favoured the rise of wools mills and silk mills, that achieved in a short time the supremacy productive, maintained for two centuries. The spanish kept Monza until at 1648, cede it then for 30.000 ducati of gold at the milanese banker Giovan Battista Durini, that inaugurated a period of economic and cultural renascence until at 1796. |
