The city of Pompei was founded in the VII century B.C. and was dominated in the course of the centuries from greek, etruscan and samnites. An earthquake damaged the city in 62 A.D., but when was buried from pieces of Vesuvio eruption in 79 A.D., it had benn almost entirely rebuilt. The excavations have taken at the light about three fifth of the site and continue at the research of other treasures. From April at October open with hourly 8.30am-07.30pm.
