The building present itself with a circular shape, for this reason it is wellknown like "La Rotonda". The works of construction begun at the end of the XI century on theruins of the basilica of S. Maria Maggiore of the VII century. The Old Cathedral entertains some important works of the Moretto, between that:
the Assunta, the evengelists Luca and Marco, the Dinner of the easter lamb; two clothes of the Romanino and one of Franco Maffei. Noteworthy is also the grand organ of the 1536 realized from the Antegnati.
