Olbia Tempio is one of 4 new provinces established in 2001, became operational in 2005, includes 24 municipalities from the Province of Sassari and two municipalities from the province of Nuoro. The territory includes area of Gallura and the northeastern coast of Sardinia (including the Emerald Coast), the Maddalena Archipelago, in addition to the northern region Montacuto, the east side of Lake Coghinas and a small portion of baronies. It is therefore one of the most popular and appreciated resort of Sardinia; beaches of the Emerald Coast with its marinas of the highest level, the unspoiled landscapes of the Archipelago of the Maddalena, a nature reserve since 1994, passing through the inner area, with forests of cork oaks and holm oaks leading up to Tempio Pausania, capital of the province along with Olbia. |
