Situated in the northern part of the Abruzzo, under the slopes of the Gran Sasso, the town is for most sourrended by expanses forests, meadows and hills covered of vineyard until the coast. The ancient part of the town is characterized from the roads very tight that flow towards the center in which raises the Cathedral of medevial style. Very interesting to visit are the Museum and the Municipal Ar Gallery, the amphitheater and the Roman Theater, of I century, the Cathedral of Sant'Anna and the Church of Sant'Antonio. Numerous the craftsmen shops in which are worked ceramic, wood, objects in copper and iron beaten. As regard the gastronomy is considerated a capital of the good flavor and of the pleasure of the table; the most well-known dish are the macheroni to the guitar, with juice of tomato, bacon, paprika and pecorino supported to dishes of fish and to wines like the Trebbiano and the Cerasuolo. The best season to visit the town is surely the summer for the panorama and the shining colours of the landscape, while to March the town is enlivened in occasion of the Fair of San Giuseppe, three days in which are shown, described and tasted the typical dishes of the zone. |
