The province of Aquila is considered a territory of invaluable value under the ambient, cultural, historic and enogastronomico profile. Its territory has not mouth on the sea and is extended in the most high and hilly zone of the central Appennino. Rich zone of waters, its main cultivations are constituted from cereals, potatoes, trees from fruit, vine, beetroots and varied vegetables and, above all in the Altopiano of the middle Aterno, the precious saffron. Spread also the sheep breeding transhumant on the high pastures and the breeding of pig. Aquila, like all the territory abruzzese, is specially rich of archeological sites, castels, important churches and a nature almost pure. It is of deposition the National Park of Abruzzo, the Park of the Maiella and the Gran Sasso supplied point of reference of the region for winter sporty activity with tracks from ski and modern installations of climb. The cemter town has palaces built between XVI and XVII century; to admire with a smooth stroll Palace Franchi Cappelli, attributed to Francesco Fontana, Palace Carli, House Vicentini, Palace Quinzi, Palace Dragonetti, Palace of Margherita of Austria, Palace Centi and Palace Camponeschi. For how much it pertains the cuisine the typical dishes realized with flesh of sheep and lamb and in good part of the centers aquilani is possible to buy excellent fresh pastas like maccheroni to the chitarra and the ravioli with ricotta. The tradiotional sweets are the mostaccioli, the ferratelle, the cagiunitti and the zeppole while from not to forget is the production of the DOC wines Montepulciano of Abruzzo and the Trebbiano of Abruzzo. |
