The small church is remembered for the first time in 1618 as “Eccelsi Mandrinorum prope Episcopatum”; in a plan of Alessandria of 1620 has the title of “Divo Rocho Vulgo Ecclesia Mandrinorum”. The dedication to Saint Rocco, and the location of the small church, that is in the point of meeting of more streets (Guasco road, Plana road, Canefri road, Boidi road), invigorates the impression of a relation between the foundation of the same small church and and explosion of plague, as was usual rise chapels againt the epidemic at the cross-roads of the streets.
