Palazzo delle Poste e Telegrafi

The Post Office building is a typical example of rationalist architecture: the main hall is a masterpiece of interior design, while, the use of "autarkic" materials gives the building its distinctive character. The facade is decorated with mosaics by Gino Severini: blending futurism and cubism, realism and abstractionism, Severini portrays the development of post (from centre rightwards) and telegraph (leftwards) services, as well as their diffusion all over the world (side panels). In the entrance hall, on the left, there is another mosaic by Severini; the former writing room is decorated by a wall painting by Giulio Rosso.
