The origins of this structure are ancient: is narrated that a primitive structure existed in the roman period and that was destroyed a first time from the Unni in the 452 A.D. for then be rebuilt in medieval age. The last reconstructions date back 1663,1789 when were built the prisons, 1815 under the Savoia.
Today the castle entertains the Archaeological Civic Museum and indoors of the surrounding park a botanic garden.
