The historical centre of the capital is characterized from Square of the Cathedral and Square of the Common on which is appeared the Church of San Domenico. One of the monuments most important of this town is the Church of Santa Maria of the Carceri of renaissance period, then deserve a visit the Castle of the Emperor, built from the architects of Federico II, the Church of San Francesco, realized between the XIII XIV century and the Church of San Domenico of gothic origins. To visit is the Museum of Contemporary Art Luigi Pecci cautious one of the most important italian centres for the contemporary art. The typical products and dishes are: the bread of Prato - the famous Bozza pratese - the mortadella of Prato, the dried figs of Carmignano, the stuffed celeries, the pap with tomato, the biscuits of Prato with the Vinsanto of Carmignano. The wines are the Carmignano, the Ruspo from the rosy colour, the Barco Reale, all excellant wines that are embellished of the D.O.C.G. or D.O.C. mark. Valuable and particular also the Pinot Nero of Bagnolo. |
