The National Institute of Fine Arts (INBA) is the major institution of the Mexican government responsible for the development and implementation of cultural policies pertaining to the advancement of the Arts, including artistic education and research from the beginning of the 20th century until the present. It is also responsible for the preservation and conservation of all artistic monuments that were erected during this time frame. INBA, therefore, presides over the promotion of ali modern and contemporary creations in the fields of music, dance, theater, architecture, literature and the visual arts. In order to achieve its mandate, INBA draws upon the many national groups and institutions it heads such as: the Palace of Fine Arts, 16 museums, the National Symphonic Orchestra, the National Ballet and Theater Companies, among many others. The National Institute of Fine Arts also fosters contemporary creations through competitions, biennials and awards ceremonies, recognizing and acknowledging the trajectory of individuai creators and collectives as well as identif)ring new talents, and providing artistic frameworks to empower their development. INBA also coordinates diverse programs and actions to reinforce Mexico's presence with the global community. This is possible with the continuous collaboration and participation of the artistic community and the private sector. | |
