In 1773 the King Ferdinando IV of Borbone, given the assignment to the architect Francesco Collecini for the restore of the ancient Belvedere and for the territorial settlement of the nwe site, the colony of San Leucio. In the decade 1789/99 the architect ideated a tiwn called Ferdinandopoli. But was realized only a building and the districts of San Carlo and San Ferdinando.
The royal site of Belvedere is composed from districts San Carlo and San Ferdinando and from the structure of Belvedere that accomodated the abode of the king.
