The area has a superficies of 15.900 hectares and includes the Oasis of Macchiagrande, the Pineta of Fregene, the Pineta of Castel Fusano and the dunes of Capocotta. The landscape is dominated from the land in which live animals like the porcupine, the weasel, the hedgehog and the badger.
Indoors of the Reserve is possible to visit the excavations of ancient Ostia, the remains of the Villa of Plinio and numerous medieval castles.
