Situated on a hilltop overlooking the coast, the medieval town of Rosignano Marittimo preserves the history and traditions of ancient times.

Castelnuovo, Gabbro and Nibbiaia are typical hill towns set in the Tuscan countryside, while the sea is the star at Rosignano Solvay. Restaurants and trattorias offer delicious fish dishes and wholesome local produce accompanied by the fine wines of the Costa degli Etruschi.

Sports, cultural and folkloristic events and an exceptionally mild climate make for enjoyable holidays all year round.

The European fashion in the twenties for garden-cities gave Rosignano an original look with its luxuriant greenery and red-brick houses.
Rosignano Solvay is a place for peaceful, relaxing holidays where the bright blue sea and golden beaches make a scenic background for leisurely walks.
Play areas for children can be found in the scented pinewoods and green, open spaces.

The Solvay Theatre puts on a full programme, and interesting cultural and folkloristic events take place throughout the year.

Rosignano Marittimo
Situated on a green hill, this historic village contains an ancient castle built around 1100 and fortified in the 1500s. The keeps, the splendid cistern and the church dedicated to St Hilary are fascinating and well preserved.

The parish church houses a wooden crucifix dating from the 1300s and a beautiful 15th century painting, "La Madonna delle Grazie".Rosignano Solvay

Palazzo Bombardieri houses the Archaeological Museum, where remains from ancient local Villanovan settlements and Etruscan, Roman, and medieval finds are on display.

Live scenes from the Nativity take place in the narrow paved streets and little squares in the days before Christmas every year, giving the town a magical atmosphere.

Rosignano Marittimo overlooks wonderful vistas of the sea and surrounding hills. The view from the cluster-pine and Mediterranean scrub shaded Poggetti Park stretches from Castiglioncello to the Gulf of Baratti.

Trails and paths through the green lead to fascinating reminders of the past, such as the washing troughs at Poggetti fountain and the windmill.
