Duomo di Monreale

It is a architectonic work, in which the islamic culture, byzantine and romanesque concur to realize one of the highest creations of the italian Middle Ages. The cathedral of Monreale is famous in all world for its gold mosaics that cover the walls of the naves, the sanctuary and the apses. The mosaics represent scenes of the Genesis, of the Construction of the Ark, the Incarnation of the word, and the baptism of Christ. On the altar a big image of Jesus with open arms that seems to follow who looks it wherever he goes; in the median apse instead, is possible to admire the colossal figure at half length of the pantogratore Christ.
