Ipogeo dei Volumni

The Ipogeo, uncovered in the 1840, with architectonic structure of a roman house, cen be reached through a dromos at steep stairs, indoors of the necropolis of the Palazzone. On the cinerary urns and on the jamb of the door is carved the name of the family Velimna, founder of the tomb. The subterranean environment, composed from more rooms, preserves 7 cinerary urns still in their original disposition, one in marble the others in travertin. Two carved winged female daemons, supervise the door of the life after death painted on the raised plinth of the founder of the family. The sepulchre, is datable between the second hald of the II century ane the half of the I century B.C.
