The medieval fortitude, was built in 1367 from the cardinal Albornoz, is erected on a rocky peak that dominates Assisi and the syrrounding valley. In 1458 Lord of then, Jacopo Piccinino, made to build the tower and the long wall of connection; Papa Sisto IV restored the 'mastio' in 1478 and Paolo III made to erect in 1535-38 the circula tower near at the entrance.
