The riding centrehorses

Not many people know that in the past of the best horses in the Papal State came from Fiuggi. The Amici del cavallo stables were founded to revive this lost tradition. Three hectares of flat ground equipped with a riding ground, stables and dressing rooms and a riding school, where important international events are held. All the year round, professional riders practise jumping here on a sandy and grassy course and the centre organises trekking days in the vicinity of the town for the pupils of the riding school and the public.

Every year, from May to September, there are a series of spectacular equestrian events. In addition to pony and horse jumping competitions there are horseback gymnastic contents, entertaining games in which each equestrian team represents one of the old districts of Fiuggi and, lastly, the “Mostra Mercato” (exhibition-market) that attracts enthusiasts from all over Italy.

Fiuggi Golf Club

During the Fiuggi's highly fashionable period there had to be a golf course so that the distinguished holidaymakers could amuse themeselves. And, in fact, the Fiuggi Golf Club, one of the oldest in Italy, was founded in 1928. Frequented by the most expert Italian golfers, the course is in an extensuve, green area with a wonderful view, stretching from Fonte Bonifacio VIII to the Lake of Canterno.Fiuggi Golf Club

The course has recently been expanded to the 18 holds and covers about 6.000 metres. Almost evey weekend important competitions, such as the “Pro am”, “Conca d'Oro Città di Fiuggi” and the National Under 30 Professionals Championship, are held at the Fiuggi Golf Club. But you do not need to be a great player to go on the green. Golf is a sport that can be taken up at any age with great enjoyment and satisfaction. That is why the club has a practise green where beginners can take lessens individually or in a small groups and practise on the driving range. In any case, both keen golfers and mere onlookers can spend enjoyable days of relaxation surrounded by greenery, stop at the club house restaurant, swim in the pool or play a game of tennis.
