The Palace, built between the end of the XIII and the beginning of the XIV century, was fulcrum of the public funcitons, judicial and administrative of the city in the Middle Ages. Its realization at degrees and the superimposition at previous buildings explain the irregularity of the course of the facade and its asymmetry. The door, characterized from a complex allegoric decoration, remembers that the perugini had hung the keys of the common of Siena, after to have defeated the city in the battle of the Torrita (1358). From the entrance in Vannucci street enter in the Room of the Notari, a time seat of the court of justice where sat the notaries to register. The room is decorated with frescos representing legends, fables and coat of arms. The gothic portal of the room is surmounted from two bronzes of the XIII century: the "Leone guelfo" and the "Grifo perugino". On Vannucci street is open instead the magnificent gothic portal decorated with three statues representing San Lorenzo, San Ludovico di Tolosa and Sant'Ercolano, patrons of Perugia. Indoors of the Palace of the Priori is situated the National Gallery of the Umbria that are reported the hours of opening and the prices.
